A New Chapter for a Historic Dutch Kitchen
In a late-18th-century Dutch home in New Jersey, Coppola Brothers created a kitchen that pairs modern function with the character of the original house. Working with Ken Fox of Fox Architecture Design, the team introduced steel beams to reinforce the structure and become a considered part of the design.
Refinished floors, exposed timber beams, and a revealed section of exterior wall celebrate the home’s history. A French-door range in Provence Blue anchors the room, complemented by a Kohler cast-iron farmhouse sink with exposed legs and polished-nickel plumbing. Hand-painted blue-and-white tile from a 400-year-old Dutch company completes a kitchen rooted in its architectural heritage.
- Original floors refinished with Provincial stain and a satin finish.
- Exposed beams finished in a rich leather stain with a matte clear coat.
- Structural steel carefully integrated into the historic interior.
