Restoring the Home of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
Following an award-winning exterior restoration in 2016, Coppola Brothers returned to restore the interior of the home of Sahaja Yoga founder Nirmala Srivastava, known as Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. Referred by architect Mario Barone, the team helped recover a property that had suffered years of deterioration and unsuccessful earlier work.
The renovation included electrical code upgrades, a new life-safety system, HVAC refurbishment, spray-foam insulation, and extensive restoration of floors and intricate woodwork. Custom plaster molds reproduced existing decorative details, preserving the character of the original rooms.
Close coordination among the church’s members and board, architects, and inspectors was essential throughout. Completed over two years of exterior and interior work, the restoration enabled the community to preserve the founder’s home and continue holding Sahaja Yoga sessions.
