Weehawken Italianate Restoration
Coppola Brothers restored a mid-19th-century Eclectic Italianate home in Weehawken, New Jersey, bringing renewed life to a hilltop residence overlooking Manhattan and the Hudson River. Years of conversion from a single-family home to apartments and back again, followed by prolonged disuse of the upper floors, had left the building in serious disrepair.
The work addressed compromised structural framing and a copper roof in need of repair, alongside stained-glass windows, decorative cast-brass hardware, inlaid flooring, and intricate wood trim. Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems also required attention. Rehabilitation of the upper floors restored access to the home’s defining views while preserving its architectural character and craftsmanship.
